Katie Pavlich: Michael Bloomberg Dumping Millions in Gun Control Money Into Virginia Governor's Race - Townhall - One month ago Democrat Terry McAuliffe, who is running for governor in Virginia, met with NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg. It turns out that meeting paid off. Bloomberg will dump $1.1 million in pro-gun control money into McAuliffe's campaign coffers. The billionaire New York City mayor’s money will be siphoned through Independence USA PAC into broadcast television commercials in the D.C. market, according to two sources tracking the air war.McAuliffe is a supporter of limiting magazine capacity, limited gun purchases to one per month per person, universal background checks and bans on sporting rifles. Bloomberg's interest in the Virginia race, a purple state, comes at an interesting time. Last week Bloomberg's money paid off for Newark Mayor Cory Booker, who will now head to the U.S. Senate. But just a short month ago, Bloomberg was crushed in Colorado when pro-gun control legislators, including the Senate president, were recalled by voters. Bloomberg sent millions in to combat the recall, outspending grassroots activists and the NRA 7 to 1 and still failed. Since the blowout, Bloomberg has been asked by Democratic Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper to stay out of the state. Read more........

(2) I Ache for a President Who Loves America - American Thinker - If there's one thing that bugs me about the Obama years it is the palpable fact that Obama doesn't love America. The last two weeks has intensified that feeling. We know why he doesn't love America. It's because he identifies with his Kenyan father's hatred of Western colonialism. If that weren't enough, Obama follows the cultural cues of liberal America, from his lefty mother to his lefty teenage mentors to his lefty college instructors to his lefty radical sponsors in Chicago. Liberals think they are too good for America. Ditto Obama.......The recent Republican presidents, whatever their faults, loved America. We love Ronald Reagan because his every speech from "The Speech" to the farewell address shone with a love for America. Imagine the love in George W. Bush, scourged on the cross of ritual liberal anathema for eight long years. Read more......

(3) Sebelius Admits She Needed Four Year Delay - American Thinker -In my column yesterday I explain that the Obamacare fail was baked in for political reasons, foremost among them, the need to keep the public from learning that the Tea Party critics were right. Obama knew he couldn't be re-elected if people learned what Obamacare was. He also knew it was not ready to be launched. The White House tactic was to keep the Obamacare regs and prices secret from the public, which meant the website could not be constructed properly. Each day brings more news proving the administration's political motivations that made failure inevitable and acceptable to them. Over the weekend HHS Sect. Kathleen Sebelius admitted in an interview: "The online insurance marketplace needed five years of construction and a year of testing, she said. "We had two years and almost no testing." Sebelius is saying she needed a delay of four years to get the system up and running. A delay of four years is an admission of complete failure. The Administration chose to launch a chaotic mess. Their actions have thrown millions of Americans out of their health care plans and their jobs, and could potentially bankrupt the insurance industry (says angry Obamacare advocate and New York Times reporter Ross Douthat). (4) Editorial: A New Threat to Obamacare - A District Judge Allows a Lawsuit to Challenge a Key Provision of the Law - Washington Times -Judges aren’t likely to save us from Obamacare — Chief Justice John Roberts, who didn’t want the Supreme Court to look bad, crushed that hope. But U.S. District Judge Paul L. Friedman deserves credit for doing the right thing in Washington on Tuesday, allowing a lawsuit to challenge one of the least defensible parts of the president’s health care takeover, his scheme of subsidies. The administration doled out freebies to residents of the states that declined to establish Obamacare exchanges, which is contrary to the plain language of the law. Since the majority of states declined to participate, individuals have to go to an exchange run by the Department of Health and Human Services or sign up on the dysfunctional healthcare.gov website. They get a means-tested tax credit from the federal government, though the law does not authorize it. The Obamacare statute set up the subsidies as a carrot to encourage states to establish exchanges. The plain language of Section 1401 of Obamacare requires that federal insurance subsidies go only to those “enrolled … through an Exchange established by the State.” The president wants to encourage people to sign up, so he ignores the law and sends the subsidies to federal exchange participants anyway.
