Next Time Democrats Will Take Your Doctor Hostage - Redstate - Every true “independent” voter in the United States should be clamoring for the full and immediate repeal of ObamaCare after watching a few days of Barack Obama’s Shutdown Theater. Do you really think the man who vandalized the World War II Memorial with barricades to make elderly veterans suffer will hesitate a microsecond to use your health care as leverage against you, the next time you defy his commands? You’re not “independent” in any meaningful sense whatsoever if you’re comfortable with what’s going on here. This was always a top goal of ObamaCare. Dependency is control. The Ruling Class does not fear people who rely upon it for food and medicine. Until now, the first nickel of every proposed “spending cut” – even using the ludicrous Washington definition of the term, which really means “reduction in the rate of spending growth” – has come from teachers, police, and firefighters. For the rest of history, if ObamaCare is allowed to stand, that first nickel will be coming out of health care. If Sequester Theater wasn’t enough to convince you this was coming, its big-budget Shutdown Theater sequel should have removed all doubt. Read more...........

(2) Why World War II Vets? - Townhall - For much of this last week, according to the spokespeople for the National Park Service, the NPS has asserted that the White House specifically ordered that they barricade the open air memorial commemorating the sacrifice and service of the veterans of World War II. In multiple statements to the press NPS spokespeople made it clear that they were directly instructed by the White House specifically to shut the memorial that had previously never been closed. How do you close something that by design is intended to be open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year? National Park Service personnel were also quoted in multiple press reports this week confirming that the White House orders were, "To make life as difficult for people as possible." Adding their own commentary in this thought, "It is disgusting."......The Weekly Standard had published pictures of some of the other war memorials in Washington. None of them had a "security presence" anywhere akin to the World War II site. It wasn't until late Saturday that police removed observers from the Vietnam memorial. And the World War I memorial is still wide open for visitors. So why World War II? Add to that the late hour closing of the Iowa Jima memorial, and the decision on Thursday to close the Normandy and D-day Memorials and the pattern continued. What was it about World War II that this administration felt the need to censor?.....How any of this family history plays into the rather explicit anti-colonial views of President Obama we are left to guess at. But one thing is clear. This president has taken great delight in targeting, hurting, and punishing veterans of World War II in ways this week few could have imagined under any circumstances. (3) 40,658 views - See Nicholas Oresko, 96, a World War II Veteran, Former Oldest Living Medal of Honor Recipient, Who Said a Poignant Prayer Before Battle of the Bulge Heroics - The Blaze - Nicholas Oresko, 96, an Army master sergeant who was badly wounded as he single-handedly took out two enemy bunkers during the Battle of the Bulge in 1945. A November 2011 article on the Department of Defense website described Oresko as the oldest living Medal of Honor recipient. The medal is the nation’s highest military award, bestowed by Congress for risk of life in combat beyond the call of duty. A Bayonne native, Oresko received the Medal of Honor from President Harry Truman on Oct. 30, 1945. At the age of 28, Oresko was a platoon leader during the Battle of the Bulge and had a feeling before being called to the day’s fight that it could be his last. So he said a prayer. “I looked up at the sky and said, ‘Lord, I know I’m going to die; let’s just make it fast, make it quick,’” he recounts in a video interview (which you can watch below). “‘Because I know this is the end.’” Soon automatic fire pinned down Oresco’s unit. Realizing a machine gun in a nearby bunker needed to be eliminated, Oresko moved out alone in the morning darkness, braving bullets that zipped about him, until he was close enough to throw a grenade into the German bunker. He rushed the bunker and used his M-1 rifle to kill the soldiers who survived the grenade blast. Read more........

(4) Obama Who Couldn't Stop the Seas from Rising, Tries to Close the Ocean - Townhall - Assuming the position of “Supreme Leader” of the US government, President Barack Obama has named a new casualty due to the (partial) shutdown of the Federal Government: The Ocean. Over 1,100 square miles of ocean has been declared off limits to the public in the Florida Bay. Apparently, unknown to most Americans, allowing boats to meander into open water is a cost that has proven to be unsustainable in the event of a government shutdown. Well. . . At least that’s according to the National Park Service. Therefore, it only makes sense that the Federal Government allocate personnel and equipment to enforce the closure of 1,100 square miles of ocean that would otherwise require no maintenance or personnel whatsoever. Feds Try to Shut Down Ocean Because of Shutdown - Breitbart - Just before the weekend, the National Park Service informed charter boat captains in Florida that the Florida Bay was "closed" due to the shutdown. Until government funding is restored, the fishing boats are prohibited from taking anglers into 1,100 square-miles of open ocean. Fishing is also prohibited at Biscayne National Park during the shutdown. The Park Service will also have rangers on duty to police the ban. Of access to an ocean. The government will probably use more personnel and spend more resources to attempt to close the ocean, than it would in its normal course of business. Read more.......
