Republican Rep. Graves and 42 House Members Introduce Plan to Stop Obamacare Without Shutting Down Government - Daily Caller - Republican Rep. Tom Graves and 42 House cosponsors introduced a budget plan Thursday to defund Obamacare without forcing a government shutdown, placing pressure solely on the shoulders of Democratic Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid. Graves’ Security, Stability, and Fairness Resolution is a continuing resolution budget bill that offers a fiscal year 2014 budget that keeps the government open but does not fund Obamacare. The Obama administration has already delayed the law’s employer mandate until 2015, after the 2014 midterm elections. The “Defund Obamacare” campaign spearheaded by Republican Sen. Ted Cruz has repeatedly been accused of seeking a government shutdown if Cruz’s demands are not met. Graves’ legislation relieves Cruz of that burden and puts Harry Reid in the crosshairs. (2) McAuliffe to Biz PAC: I'll Bring Jobs by Being Super-Good at Drinking with People - Biz PAC Endorses Cuccinelli - Hot Air - A PAC made up of Northern Virginia tech business types did interviews with McAuliffe and Republican candidate Ken Cuccinelli last week before voting on an endorsement. The reasoning behind the NVTC TechPAC’s nod — Cuccinelli had detailed responses to questions in candidate interviews, three board members said, while McAuliffe was uninformed and superficial — bolsters the view that the Democrat’s breezy style doesn’t sit well with some Virginians. Two of the people said they were leaning toward Cuccinelli before the interviews; one disliked both candidates. When Tech PAC announced its endorsement— a blow to McAuliffe but one probably only political junkies would have noticed—McAuliffe’s camp threw a fit, calling in reinforcements to strong arm the group and even threaten them: Read more........

(3) Illinois Supreme Court Declares State's Ban on Carrying Firearms Unconstitutional - Daily Caller - In an unusually forceful and straightforward opinion in the case of People v. Aguilar, the Supreme Court of Illinois unanimously held that the state’s “comprehensive ban” on the “use of an operable firearm for self-defense outside the home” is invalid on its face under the Second Amendment. The NRA had participated in the case with an amicus brief. The court surveyed the Supreme Court’s recent Second Amendment decisions, as well as state and federal precedents from courts in Illinois. Regarding the significance of the Supreme Court’s opinions, it declared: “neitherHeller nor McDonald expressly limits the second amendment’s protections to the home. On the contrary, both decisions contain language strongly suggesting if not outright confirming that the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms extends beyond the home.” It also characterized the Illinois law as “a wholesale statutory ban on the exercise of a personal right that is specifically named in and guaranteed by the United States Constitution….
