Yes, the National Park Service Really Made Video Showcasing What They Saw Are Islam's Contributions to Women's Rights - The Blaze - The National Park Service (NPS) created a series of videos last month highlighting Islam’s contributions to women’s rights. “Women’s Rights National Historical Park also recognizes the efforts of other groups around the world, who work to achieve equality for all people,” says a statement posted on the official website of the NPS. “Though we all have our differences, these groups struggle to ensure that a world in which ‘all men and women are created equal’ can become a reality.” “In an effort to highlight these struggles for rights, Women’s Rights National Historical Park created a video series to recognize the efforts of citizens to change the world in which they live,” it continues. A spokesperson for the NPS did not immediately return calls from TheBlaze seeking comment on Saturday. The three videos focusing on Islam, show children in Schenectady, New York discussing their experiences as Muslim women. One unidentified woman says it’s wrong to say Islam does not respect women’s rights. “People think that Islam oppresses women and there’s no equality, but they’re wrong, there’s equity,” the individual said. In another clip, another unidentified female praises Islam for what she says are its contributions to women’s rights. Read more........

(1) The Hijra - American Thinker - Within the past few decades, mosques have increasingly dotted the landscapes of American and European cities and towns, with mega mosques often overshadowing adjacent, centuries-old churches in predominantly Christian regions. Islamic schools or academies and a host of Muslim organizations have become omnipresent across the West. Meanwhile, Americans and Europeans have made countless accommodations to Muslim demands. They have included footbaths; high-decibel, five-times-daily calls to prayer; segregated male-female gym and swimming pool hours; halal food; workplace dispensations for handling pork products and for female head and face coverings; and special, public prayer rooms. (2) Richmond Times-Dispatch: McAuliffe "Deeply Unserious Candidate" - Hot Air - There are plenty of reasons Terry McAuliffe—Clinton acolyte, failed businessman, crony capitalist, and policy know-nothing— is a “deeply unserious” candidate, but I didn’t imagine one of the biggest newspapers in the state would echo that belief. As Jim Geraghty notes, the Dispatch “hasn’t endorsed in the Virginia governor’s race yet…[but]we can guess who they’re NOT endorsing.” From Sunday’s editorial: When it comes to raking together piles of cash, Democratic gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe is without peer. On questions of actual governance, though, his troubling lack of mastery and odd flippancy combine to paint a portrait of a deeply unserious candidate.  Read more.......

Bearing Drift Poll - Virginia Governor - Ken Cuccinelli - 35 - Terry McAuliffe - 35.5 - Sarvis - 10.8 -  The Bearing Drift/Conquest Communications poll on the gubernatorial race finds Democrat Terry McAuliffe at 36, Republican Ken Cuccinelli at 35 and Libertarian Robert Sarvis at 11 percent, with nearly 19 percent of likely voters undecided. The poll’s margin of error is five points and the partisan split is 35.5R/30.5D/3.8L/27.8I/2.5 “other.” The split here diverges from other polls, which have assumed the 2013 electorate will look far more like it did in the 2012 presidential year than has historically been the case for Virginia’s off-year elections. Recall that in 2009, that electorate was +4 Republican over Democrat. Read more........

(3) John Whitehead: Common Core: A Lesson Plan for Raising Up Compliant, Non-Thinking Citizens - The Blaze - As I point out in my new book, A Government Of Wolves The Emerging American Police State, there are several methods for controlling a population. You can intimidate the citizenry into obedience through force, by relaying on military strength and weaponry such as SWAT team raids, militarized police, and a vast array of lethal and nonlethal weapons. You can manipulate them into marching in lockstep with your dictates through the use of propaganda and carefully timed fear tactics about threats to their safety, whether through the phantom menace of terrorist attacks or shooting sprees by solitary gunmen. Or you can indoctrinate them into compliance from an early age through the schools, discouraging them from thinking for themselves while rewarding them for regurgitating whatever the government, through its so-called educational standards, dictates they should be taught. Those who founded America believed that an educated citizenry knowledgeable about their rights was the surest means of preserving freedom. If so, then the inverse should also hold true: that the surest way for a government to maintain its power and keep the citizenry in line is by rendering them ignorant of their rights and unable to think for themselves.
