(3) Texas Attorney General Candidate Says Facebook Pulled His Campaign Video Because He Supports Traditional Marriage - The Blaze - A Republican candidate for Texas attorney general says Facebook froze his account and deleted a video announcing his candidacy without explanation — but suspects it was because of his support for traditional marriage. State Rep. Dan Branch was temporarily blocked from posting on his official Facebook page Thursday and had his announcement video removed because it apparently violated the site’s “community standards,” campaign manager Enrique Marquez told TheBlaze. The Branch campaign contacted Facebook about which standard the video violated but was not given an explanation, Marquez said. Facebook prohibits content that is violent, threatening, graphic or deemed hate speech, among other restrictions. Marquez said the campaign believes the video was flagged because Branch vowed to fight for the state’s “right to define a marriage as between one man and one woman.” “[We] suspect that…someone considered it hate speech and it was brought down…all signs point to that and Facebook isn’t giving us any answers,” Marquez said. (4) San Antonio Looks to Ban Christians from City Government - Citizen Link - The San Antonio City Council, under the leadership of Mayor Julian Castro, is setting the stage for an unprecedented attack on religious liberty, particularly for Christians. In early August, the City Council will consider an ordinance to add “sexual orientation” and “gender identity” to the discrimination ordinances in the city code. The proposal would ban anyone that has ever opposed (“demonstrated bias, by word or deed…”) homosexuality from being involved in city government and/or performing a city contract/subcontract. The proposed ordinance provides no exemptions for religious beliefs on homosexuality, even beliefs expressed in Church. Christianity has been clear on its teaching that homosexuality is a sin, a deviation from God’s unique design of men and women, for over two thousand years. Both the Old and New Testaments attest to this viewpoint. This makes the likely consequences of this proposed ordinance clear to see: a complete ban of bible-believing Christians and faith-based businesses from participating in the city government.
