Toomey-Manchin Proposal Will Allow Your Doctors to Block Your Right to Guns - Redstate - I just talked to someone familiar with the Toomey-Manchin proposal who raises a serious concern based on his understanding of the legislation. Everyone on all sides agrees that we need better help for those with mental health problems who need treatment. Unfortunately, the person I talked with is concerned that the Toomey-Manchin proposal could discourage people from getting help. The proposal will allow a doctor to add a patient to the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) without ever telling the patient he or she has been added. There would be no due process requirement. Not all doctors will be able to do it with the same ease, but many will. Knowing a doctor could add him to a federal database as mentally ill without his knowledge could potentially dissuade a patient from going to the doctor in the first place to get help. Worse, if the doctor does so and makes a mistake, the patient would have to actively work through the system to get himself removed — guilty before being proven innocent. In some states, should a doctor flag you as having mental illness without your knowledge, you may very well see the state come collect your previously purchased guns. Read more........

(2) Highway Patrol Gave Feds Missouri Concealed Carry Weapon Permits Data - Columbia Tribune - The Missouri State Highway Patrol has twice turned over the entire list of Missouri concealed weapon permit holders to federal authorities, most recently in January, Sen. Kurt Schaefer said Wednesday.
Questioning in the Senate Appropriations Committee revealed that on two occasions, in November 2011 and again in January, the patrol asked for and received the full list from the state Division of Motor Vehicle and Driver Licensing. Schaefer later met in his office with Col. Ron Replogle, superintendent of the patrol......... Testimony from Department of Revenue officials revealed that the list of 185,000 names had been put online in one instance and given to the patrol on a disc in January.
Schaefer has been investigating a new driver licensing system. He and the committee grilled the revenue officials for several hours in the morning and again at midday before they admitted the list had been copied. The investigation was triggered by fears that concealed weapons data was being shared with federal authorities. Read more........
(3) Obama's Soldiers for Secularism - American Spectator - Whoever put together the recently reported Defense Department materials classifying Catholics and Evangelicals as extremists can be excused for simply reflecting, if a bit overenthusiastically, the ideology of the boss. Obama’s anti-Christian secularism is the order of the day. Why wouldn’t that philosophy seep into DOD materials?
The military is dismissing this slide show for a U.S. Army Reserve presentation, which placed the Catholic Church in the same category as al Qaeda, as an isolated incident. An Army spokesman told the press it “was produced by an individual without anyone in the chain of command’s knowledge or permission,” who “was not a subject matter expert, and produced the material after conducting Internet research.”
Research into what? Obama’s speeches and writings on the benighted quality of Christianity, all of which rest on the premise that it is extreme? Did he read Obama’s memoirs, which dismiss passages of the Bible as extreme? Had he read Obama’s comment that to “base our policy making” on Abrahamic commitments “would be a dangerous thing”?..........When historians look back on his presidency, they will likely record that he considered his greatest enemy to be not radical Islam abroad but traditional Christianity at home. (4) Common Core: Opposition Mounting: 13 States now not Participting or Rethinking Involvement. - The end of local control of education looms as 46 states have signed onto the Common Core, a set of national K-12 education standards and federally funded tests. Opposition to it, though, is suddenly burgeoning into a full-blown national movement, with 13 states either not participating or seriously rethinking the issue.
Governors and potential presidential candidates should especially take note. In state after state, parents, especially moms, have driven the movement against the Common Core. It's hasn't seen much coverage by talk radio, and perhaps for that reason many elected leaders have failed to notice the fervor and rising opposition. But they should not underestimate the American people. They will soon have to account for their action, or inaction. Read more:

(5) Chris Dumler to Serve 9 Consecutive Days in Jail? - Schilling Show Blog - An amended Albemarle General District Court Disposition Notice, dated April 10, 2013, shows a change in Chris Dumler’s previously weekend-only incarceration schedule.
Beginning April 12, the embattled sex offender cum Albemarle County Supervisor will serve “straight time” through April 21, and then resume his “normal” schedule (weekends only) for the remainder of his term.
Also of note, Dumler’s original Disposition Notice says that his jail time “shall omit 1st of each month,” presumably meaning that he may skip the first weekend of each month. According to reports, the wayward Supervisor did not serve time this past weekend, April 5 through April 7.
The circumstances surrounding Chris Dumler’s amended disposition and the special request/accommodation were not stated on the document.

Hooking Kids on Sex: Planned Parenthood Starts "Saturation Process in Kindergarten." (144,055 views) Washington Times - While the White House says sequestration has eliminated funds for children touring the White House, President Obama has no problem spending $350 million federal tax dollars for sexual indoctrination programs starting in kindergarten for those same children.
This is not your grandmother’s sex education about how things work and what can go “wrong.” In fact, the exact opposite is the essence of the Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP): Obamacare funnels $75 million annually into PREP, which must be used exclusively for Planned Parenthood-style “comprehensive” sex ed programs where no type of sex is wrong and the only sexual behavior PP considers “unsafe” is becoming pregnant......PP is funded with our tax dollars to market sex to our children in our schools under the guise of sex education, anti-bullying, diversity, and tolerance. Once sexualized, those children then become PP sex customers for contraceptives, STD testing, and abortion. Read more.......
