The Health Care Summit: Paul Ryan and the GOP Steal the Stage from Obama - Redstate, this video has 887,244 views - For those who thought today’s Health Care Summit at the Blair House would be Obama, Reid, and Pelosi’s show you were proven wrong. Today belonged to the GOP proving that we are not the party of “no” but a party with solutions. Specifically Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin took the day in what could be remembered as the day he really and truly became on of the GOP’s brightest young stars. From Erick Erickson at Red State: Many Republicans thought that after the President overshadowed the GOP at their Baltimore retreat last month, going to Blair House yesterday would just be another PR disaster. It was anything but. The GOP won the day so convincingly that even the traditional media had to praise the party for talking issues. For those who didn’t see this portion, which came in the afternoon session, Ryan launched a full on assult on the bill more or less talking about how the bill will greatly increase the deficit which is something the Dems have lied about time and time again. Additionally he hits on the fact that medicare is broke, how this bill will hurt seniors as well as future generations, and quoting a budget chairman who said this bill was a “ponzi scheme that would make Bernie Madoff proud”.  Read more.............

Steve Peters Commentary: "Be careful what you ask for because you might just get it" As the liberal Democrats applaud with glee that Paul Ryan has been picked as Romney's VP, perhaps they should go back and watch this video where Ryan eviscerates ObamaCare right in front of Obama. Obama had no response to Ryan's factual and articulate comments. The battle is now fully engaged between two diametrically opposing visions for America's future. November will determine if the voters want more freedom and less Government, or are willing to trade those freedoms for the false promise of Government security. No one else can guarantee your security, but you. In order for you to have the freedom to make yourself secure, you must not let the Government abrogate any of your inalienable rights imbedded in our founding documents. The Founding Fathers warned us about this tradeoff "Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety."

Michael Barone: Romney Ticket Puts Entitlement Crisis at Center of Campaign -  On the USS Wisconsin in Norfolk harbor, a coatless Mitt Romney named a tieless Paul Ryan as his vice presidential nominee. Romney's choice was not much of a surprise after he told NBC's Chuck Todd on Thursday that he wanted someone with a "vision for the country, that adds something to the political discourse about the direction of the country. I mean, I happen to believe this is a defining election for America, that we're going to be voting for what kind of America we're going to have." This arguably describes some of the others mentioned as possible nominees, but it clearly fits Ryan. He doesn't fit some of the standard criteria for vice president. He hasn't won a statewide election, held an executive position or become well-known nationally or even in much of Wisconsin. But more than anyone else, more even (as impolite as it is to say) than the putative presidential nominee, Ryan has set the course for the Republican Party for the past three years, both on policy and in politics. From his post as chairman of the House Budget Committee, he has made himself not just a plausible national nominee but a formidable one by advancing and arguing for major changes in entitlement policy.  Read more.........
