Barack Obama - #4098 - 'Propaganda' Poll Shows Obama Ahead - American Thinker (2) Larry Kudlow: Jobs Report Bad News - Townhall Finance (3) Stanley Kurtz: Burn Down the Suburbs - National Review Online (4) Obama Fundraisers to Deny Thousands a Day at the Beach - White House Dossier

A worthless new Quinnipiac poll gives Obama a big edge in Florida, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. The survey shows Obama up 6 in Ohio and Florida and 11 in Pennsylvania. These are all bigger margins than Obama received when he won all three states in 2008 -- Florida (2.8%), Ohio (4.7%). Pennsylvania(10%). It seems unlikely that Obama would be doing better in these states than he did 4 years ago. If you look at page 9 of the detailed results provided by the pollster (now linked to the New York Times and CBS for these state polls), you get the answer for the odd results: Those surveyed revealed who they voted for in 2008. Here are the results by state (Page 9): Florida: Obama 53%, McCain 40% Ohio: Obama 53%, McCain 38% Pennsylvania: Obama 54%, McCain 40%. In other words, the bias towards Obama voters is 10% in Florida and Ohio, and 4% in Pennsylvania, compared to how people actually voted in these states in 2008. These results are as valuable as the media that sponsored them. It is a shame that Quinnipiac, which was once respected, has thrown in with the propagandists.

Larry Kudlow: Jobs Report Bad News - Townhall Finance - Stocks loved today’s jobs report, rising well over 200 points at this writing. But equities may be suffering from a certain irrational exuberance. Yes, nonfarm payrolls rose by 163,000 in July. That’s better than the prior two months and probably signals no double-dip recession -- at least for now. But there are a lot of negatives in this report. For one, the small-business household survey dropped 195,000. That’s what drove the unemployment rate up to 8.3 percent. These two factors virtually cancel out the better-than-expected rise in nonfarm payrolls. By the way, the labor force shrunk by 150,000. The participation rate slipped to 63.7 percent. And the overall U-6 discouraged-workers unemployment rate increased to 15 percent. Average hourly earnings registered a slight 0.1 percent increase. But that only adds up to a 1.7 percent increase year-on-year, which is below the rising consumer price index. So Team Obama will undoubtedly continue to tell us that jobs and the economy are getting better, but this mixed employment report takes the steam out of that argument.  Read more..........

Burn Down the Suburbs - Stanley Kurtz - National Review Online - EDITOR’S NOTE: This article is adapted from Spreading the Wealth: How Obama is Robbing the Suburbs to Pay for the Cities, by Stanley Kurtz, from Sentinel HC. President Obama is not a fan of America’s suburbs. Indeed, he intends to abolish them. With suburban voters set to be the swing constituency of the 2012 election, the administration’s plans for this segment of the electorate deserve scrutiny. Obama is a longtime supporter of “regionalism,” the idea that the suburbs should be folded into the cities, merging schools, housing, transportation, and above all taxation. To this end, the president has already put programs in place designed to push the country toward a sweeping social transformation in a possible second term. The goal: income equalization via a massive redistribution of suburban tax money to the cities. Obama’s plans to undercut the political and economic independence of America’s suburbs reach back decades.   Read more.......

Obama Fundraisers to Deny Thousands a Day at the Beach - A popular Connecticut park and its 234 acres of wetlands, woodlands and beach on Long Island Sound will be shut down all day Monday so that President Obama can use the location as a base for fundraising nearby. The Sherwood Island State Park in Westport, Connecticut will have to turn away thousands of bathers so that Obama can get to and from his events, including a $35,800 per head bash at the 9,000-square-foot, $8.3-million waterfront estate of movie mogul Harvey Wienstein, according to The Connecticut Post. The Obama incursion is already creating an uproar in the state, according to the Post. “Could you imagine if a Republican ever did such a thing? They’d be screaming from every corner,” said House Minority Leader Lawrence F. Cafero Jr. ”This is supposed to be the party and the president of the people? To close this state park in August for purely partisan political reasons is outrageous. People are going to be on their one-week vacation and they can’t get into Sherwood Island? Read more......
