Obamacare - #3994 - Catholic Bishops Launch 'Fortnight for Freedom' Protest Over HHS Contraception Mandate - Hot Air (2) Five Devastating Effects Obamacare Will Have on Young Adults - Heritage Foundation (3) Top Doctor's Chilling Claim the NHS Kills Off 130,000 Elderly Patients Every Year - Mail Online

The US Conference of Catholic Bishops launched their two-week Fortnight for Freedom program today, their latest salvo in the battle between the Catholic Church and the Obama administration over the HHS contraception mandate. The effort began at midnight this morning in Baltimore, with a Mass at the Basilica dedicated to the effort to overturn the mandate and protect religious liberty. It won’t end there, though, as LifeNews reports: The Fortnight for Freedom campaign the nation’s Catholic bishops started against the Obama HHS mandate, which forces religious groups to pay for abortions and birth control drugs for their employees, begins Thursday. The United States Catholic bishops are readying American Catholics for what may be the largest campaign of civil disobedience since the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960’s. In addition to 12 lawsuits against the Obama Administration including 46 plaintiffs from dioceses, hospitals and universities, the US Catholic bishops are urging Catholics to openly defy the Obama HHS Mandate. That’s actually a little premature. Civil disobedience won’t take place until the Obama administration enforces the mandate, assuming it ever gets the chance to do so. At that point, the civil disobedience will come from the Catholic organizations themselves, not from parishioners, in the form of refusing to comply or pay fines for non-compliance. The bishops are hoping that a massive protest now will force the Obama administration to reverse the mandate (or expand the religious exemption to all religious organizations) before civil disobedience becomes necessary. To that end, the USCCB has begun sending letters out to parishioners in the Mass bulletins to get them involved in protests:  Read more.........

Five Devastating Effects Obamacare Will Have on Young Adults - Heritage Foundation In anticipation of the Supreme Court’s Obamacare decision, it is important to remember that the constitutionality of the law’s individual mandate isn’t the only concern. For example, Obamacare will negatively impact many younger Americans. Here’s a list of five ways young adults will be hurt by the law: 1.  Premium increases. Obamacare imposes age-rating rules that increase premiums for young adults. The law allows premium costs to vary by a ratio of 3 to 1 based on age. 2.   Loss of coverage. Obamacare puts in place new rules that prohibit plans with annual limits. 3.  Government takeover of student loans. A provision neatly tucked into the massive health care law is an effective nationalization of the student loan industry. 4.  Less money for education. Obamacare’s massive expansion of Medicaid, which will add almost 20 million more Americans to the program, will be difficult to sustain on already strained state budgets. 5.  Crushing fiscal burden. Younger generations will be left footing the bill for Obamacare and its irresponsible spending.  Read more detailed information on each of these points........

Top Doctor's Chilling Claim: The NHS Kills Off 130,000 Elderly Patients Every Year - Mail Online Professor says doctors use 'death pathway' to euthenasia of the elderly Treatment on average brings a patient to death in 33 hours Around 29 per cent of patients that die in hospital are on controversial 'care pathway' Pensioner admitted to hospital given treatment by doctor on weekend shift NHS doctors are prematurely ending the lives of thousands of elderly hospital patients because they are difficult to manage or to free up beds, a senior consultant claimed yesterday. Professor Patrick Pullicino said doctors had turned the use of a controversial ‘death pathway’ into the equivalent of euthanasia of the elderly. He claimed there was often a lack of clear evidence for initiating the Liverpool Care Pathway, a method of looking after terminally ill patients that is used in hospitals across the country. It is designed to come into force when doctors believe it is impossible for a patient to recover and death is imminent.  Read more.......
