Hearing: TONIGHT: Wednesday, February 29, 6:00 p.m..  Please attend this Public Hearing on the FY 12-13 Budget, Albemarle Board of Supervisors, Lane Auditorium in the Albemarle County Office Building   If you wish to sign up to speak, you will want to arrive around 5:00 p.m.  County Executive Tom Foley will present his $311,677,759.00 Budget for Fiscal Year 2012-2013.  To see a copy of the online version of the budget here............  Does this reflect the core function of County government?
Do you consider this responsible stewardship of your tax dollars?
What do you think of the new equalized tax rate? Are your taxes going up?
As reported by Rob Schilling on "The Schilling Show" yesterday, Albemarle County is made up of six magisterial districts and the Town of Scottsville which have each experienced various changes in home property values.  As a result, he calculates by the new equalized rate....
If you live in Rio District, you'll be paying 1.4% more on the equalized rate because the amount of property value drop there was less than the average.
If you live in Samuel Miller District, you'll be paying 0.34% less.
If you live in Rivanna District, you'll be paying 2.11% more.
If you live in Jack Jouett District, you'll be paying 0.59% less.
If you live in White Hall District, you'll be paying 0.52% less.
If you live in Scottsville District, you'll be paying 2.03% more.
If you live in the Town of Scottsville, you'll be paying 1.43% less.
Some of them are down, some of them are up -- but it's NOT equalized.  Tell your Supervisors there is NOTHING EQUAL about an equalized tax rate!
