PLEASE STUDY THESE CHARTS....THIS IS WHAT WE ARE FACING IN THE NOVEMBER ELECTIONS - ENTITLEMENTS.

While it's true that the country has been headed in this direction for many years — with the explosion in entitlements since the 1960s and the aging of the population — Obama has, in fact, greatly accelerated the trend. Examples: Direct payments. The amount of money the federal government hands out in direct payments to individuals steadily increased over the past four decades, but shot up under Obama, climbing by almost $600 billion — a 32% increase — in his first three years. And Obama's last budget called for these payments to climb another $500 billion by 2016, at which point they would account for fully two-thirds of all federal spending. People getting benefits. According to the Census Bureau 49% now live in homes where at least one person gets a federal benefit — Social Security, workers comp, unemployment, subsidized housing, and the like. That's up from 44% the year before Obama took office, and way up from 1983, when fewer than a third were government beneficiaries. Food stamps. This year, more than 46 million (15% of all Americans) will get food stamps. That's 45% higher than when Obama took office, and twice as high as the average for the previous 40 years. This surge was driven in part by the recession, but also because Obama boosted the benefit amount as part of his stimulus plan.  Read more.........

Obama Could Learn from the Pilgrims - Steve Peters - Daily Progress - The Pilgrims of Plymouth Colony in 1620 initially formed a communal government model that failed because it ignored human nature. Their second attempt embraced the lesson that individual greed is good, and they ultimately prospered. Greed as defined by Ayn Rand as rational self-interest has existed as a human condition since man first walked the earth.  Governments are human creations affected by all of our individual, rational self-interests. Those not acknowledging this human trait will fail, as they have throughout history. Capitalism within the framework of our founding fathers’ republic recognizes, embraces and incorporates this human condition into its system.  The Founders openly embraced individual greed within American capitalism, allowing for the proper allocation of money to producers who improve the lives of their fellow citizens while taking care in the Constitution to place limits on the rational self-interests of the politicians who govern us. Our rational self-interest in the open marketplace forms what Adam Smith called “the invisible hand” of our economy, which is the driving force behind our prosperity and high standard of living.  Read more.......

A Slashed and Burned Military - Heritage Foundation - The future is not bright for the U.S. military. Yesterday, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta gave America a glimpse of the half-trillion dollars in defense spending cuts requested by the Obama Administration and detailed how the U.S. military’s capabilities would be affected in practical terms. The result is a slashed and burned military that woefully lacks the forces it needs to meet America’s security challenges on a global scale.  On the ground, in the sea, and in the air, American forces will shrink drastically the Army will shrink by 72,000 people, the active Marine Corps will be reduced by 20,000, the Air Force will see six tactical fighter squadrons de-established while an additional training fighter squadron will be eliminated, the next-generation F-35 Joint Strike Fighter procurement will be slowed, and the Navy will retire seven cruisers and two amphibious ships at an early juncture while delaying the procurements of new ships. To put these cuts in context, we are returning to ground forces levels we had under President Bill Clinton when the Army strained and scrambled to execute smaller missions like Kosovo and Bosnia–let alone significant ground force operations.

Obama Wants to Force Morning After Pill on Religious Institutions - American Thinker - President Obama has stepped up his war on churches. London's Daily Mail reports that the president has green-lighted new rules that force "church-affiliated institutions to cover all methods of contraception, including sterilisation."  On January 11, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled against efforts by the Obama administration to apply employment discrimination laws to church hirings. For the first time, the high court recognized a "ministerial exception." The vote was remarkably unanimous.  Read more..........
