Barack Obama and the MF Global Campaign Fallout -#3389 - American Thinker (2) Obama Insults Sarkozy at G-20 Summit - American Thinker

It will not be easy for President Obama to distance himself from his close political ally, former New Jersey Democratic Governor Jon Corzine, and Corzine's MF Global bankruptcy, and there is plenty of photo evidence of that to go around.  Mr. Corzine is now said to have hired a "leading white-collar criminal defense lawyer," amid SEC and FBI investigations. There are allegations of missing customer funds and "disguised" debt levels over the past two years. And a shareholder suit has been filed against Corzine and three other executives, as Reuters reports:  The complaint filed Thursday ... accused the executives of having "continuously touted" MF Global's financial controls and liquidity, despite knowing their statements were false and misleading at the time they were made.  Mr. Corzine's leading role in the demise of MF Global leads right into the Obama reelection campaign.  While the President campaigns against so-called Wall Street greed, lending a wink and a nod to the Occupy crowd, the legal spotlight now falls on one of his own Wall Street money bundlers, or perhaps bunglers, as the Washington Post reports:  The bankrupt financial company MF Global, now under federal investigation for possibly misusing clients' money, is one of the top sources of contributions for President Obama's reelection, complicating the campaign's effort to turn public anger at Wall Street into a political advantage.  Employees of the company have given $108,650 to Obama's campaign and the Democratic National Committee, according to federal records.  Read more..........

Obama Insults Sarkozy at G-20 Summit - American Thinker - Barack Obama who campaigns against his opponents by constantly denigrating and belittling them, thought he'd try a joke out at the G-20 Summit on Friday.  Mr. Obama thought he was making a gentle joke about Mr. Sarkozy, host of the summit, when he congratulated Mr. Sarkozy and wife Carla Bruni on the birth of their baby daughter on Oct. 19. Instead, Mr. Obama caused a minor international incident.  "I want to make mention that this is our first meeting since the arrival of the newest Sarkozy, and so I want to congratulate Nicolas and Carla on the birth of Giulia," Mr. Obama told reporters shortly after his arrival at the G-20, with Mr. Sarkozy at his side. "And I informed Nicolas on the way in that I am confident that Giulia inherited her mother's looks rather than her father's, which I think is an excellent thing."................ The "joke" upset the French, which is to be expected. Anti-Americanism in France is reflexive so I wouldn't put much stock in anything coming from the French media.  "The U.S. President's picnic on the 'physical' of his French counterpart is only the latest episode of reports [which are] rather cool at best, at worst frankly tense," said L'Observateur newspaper, which called the two leaders "the best enemies."
