Protect Life Act - #HR358 - #3321 - Vote is Scheduled for Thursday, Oct.13 - Citizen Link

An important pro-life bill will come up for a vote in the full U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday.  The Protect Life Act, sponsored by Rep. Joe Pitts, R-Pa., aims to completely strip abortion funding from the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act — the sweeping overhaul of the American health care system better known as ObamaCare.  As passed in 2010, the law will subsidize abortion through insurance starting in 2014: Private health insurance companies that participate in state exchanges that cover abortion will receive federal money to offset the costs, and will charge all members at least $1 a month to cover them.  Not only does ObamaCare force everyone to pay for abortions, it also denies health care workers the right to a free conscience.  The law contains no exemptions allowing them to opt out of performing procedures that violate their conscience or religious beliefs. That means Catholic hospitals, for example, could be punished through the withholding of federal funds for not training their own workers to do abortions or referring patients to facilities that do; individuals refusing to perform abortions could lose their jobs.  HR 358, which has a broad bipartisan coalition of 145 cosponsors, aims to fix all those problems.  Read more.........  Time to call or email your member of the House of Representatives.......... - VOTE IS THURSDAY -    In Virginia 5th District, please contact Robert Hurt-202-225-4711.
