Barack Obama - #3244 - NY-09 Goes Republican for First Time Since 1922 - Redstate (2) Pa. Judge Rules Against Insurance Mandate - Philly.com (3) Obama Approval Plummets Among Americans Skeptical of Jobs Plan - Bloomberg (4) Obama's New Snitch Central: Attack Watch - Hot Air

Bob Turner Wins - NY-09 last saw Republicans hold it in 1922. The seat, last held by Anthony Weiner, flipped back to the GOP tonight in a stunning rebuke to Barack Obama. In every special election in New York for the past few years, even in 2009/2010, the Democrats pointed their finger at each one and declare it spelled disaster for the GOP. Today, the Democrats will declare NY-09 has no bearing on anything under the sun. Except, in NY-09 the Democrats attacked the Republican, Congressman-Elect Turner, on the Paul Ryan plan. They attacked him on social security and medicare.

All things the Democrats did in the last New York congressional special election they did again this time. And they lost. They lost a district that went for Obama, Kerry, and Gore. They lost a district that has had a Democrat representing it for almost 90 years. Obama lost New York Jewish voters. He lost them because of three things. First, he lost them because of the economy. Even in this reliably Democrat district, the voters are upset about the economy. No amount of spin can change that polling. Second, he lost them because for three years the Democrats have said Jewish voters love Obama and they really don’t. As Ari Fleischer said jokingly on Twitter, “Obama calls for NY-9 to return to it’s pre-1967 status. Last time an R held the seat was 1922.” No doubt Obama will soon travel to Israel. Third, and the one that will get little if any play in the mainstream media except frivolous debunking, the voters in NY-09 rejected David Weprin’s vote in favor of gay marriage. Yes, yet again we see a reliably Democrat area rebel against Democrats pushing gay marriage. (below the fold for data on that)  Read more.........

Pa. Judge Rules Against Insurance Mandate - Philly.com - President Obama's plan to require individual Americans to purchase health insurance or pay a penalty exceeds the powers granted both the president and Congress by the Constitution, a federal district court judge ruled Tuesday in Harrisburg.  Federal District Judge Christopher C. Conner said the federal government's power to regulate interstate commerce does not give it the power to compel individual citizens to purchase products against their will.  "The nation undoubtedly faces a health-care crisis," Conner said. "Scores of individuals are uninsured and the costs to all citizens are measurable and significant.  “The federal government, however, is one of limited enumerated powers,” Conner continued, “and Congress' efforts to remedy the ailing health care and health insurance markets must fit squarely within the boundaries of those powers."  Read more.......

Obama Approval Plummets Among Americans Skeptical of Jobs Plan - Bloomberg - A majority of Americans don’t believe President Barack Obama’s $447 billion jobs plan will help lower the unemployment rate, skepticism he must overcome as he presses Congress for action and positions himself for re- election. The downbeat assessment of the American Jobs Act reflects a growing and broad sense of dissatisfaction with the president. Americans disapprove of his handling of the economy by 62 percent to 33 percent, a Bloomberg National Poll conducted Sept. 9-12 shows. The disapproval number represents a nine point increase from six months ago. The president’s job approval rating also stands at the lowest of his presidency -- 45 percent. That rating is driven down in part by a majority of independents, 53 percent, who disapprove of his performance.  Read more........

Obama's New Snitch Central: Attack Watch - Hot Air - In 2009, the White House launched an effort to get people to snitch on those who expressed opposition to President Obama through a new official e-mail, flag@whitehouse.gov, and a web page on the official White House site. It didn’t quite last a fortnight, thanks to an outcry of anger over the idea that a President would be so petty and so paranoid as to need an official informant bureau in the White House. They dropped this about the same time that Obama finally dropped his war on Fox News, having lost on all fronts to control opinion. Did they learn a lesson? Apparently not, or at least they learned the wrong lesson. The “flag” program is back, but this time it’s being run out of the Obama re-election campaign:This is, at least, not nearly as offensive as running a Snitch Central out of the White House. It’s just as silly, though, and every bit as petty. The categories for passing along an “attack” include significant events like a TV interview or broadcast ad, but also include such trivial categories as “forwarded e-mail” and “rumor.” Read more......
