In an amazing turn of events, North Carolina’s Woman’s Right to Know Act went from being one vote shy last month to having enough to override Governor Beverly Perdue’s veto on Tuesday, by a vote of 72-47. Despite Perdue’s rhetoric blaming the “Republicans’ social agenda” and citing the bill as “needless government intrusion” into the patient/doctor relationship, three “Blue Dog” Democrats switched their votes at the last minute. The House overrode another veto last month — that measure stripped Planned Parenthood of taxpayer funding. The Democrat who cast the deciding vote Tuesday, Rep. Jim Crawford, said that while the governor was not happy with his vote, he was content with this decision. “I’ve always voted pro-life. And I tried to stick with my crowd with the other vote, because I knew it was going to pass,” he said. “But when it comes down to informing people and that kind of issue, I just felt like it was important to let people know the consequences of abortion.”  Read more.......

Mobile Ultrasound Unit Rescues '2 Babies and 2 Souls' in One Day - Baptist Press - A mobile pregnancy care resource center may be relatively new for the Florida Baptist Children's Homes, but it already has become a strategic advocate for life and the health of the unborn. "Two babies and two souls were saved" when the unit was stationed next door to a Planned Parenthood clinic in downtown Orlando in late June, Mary Lou Hendry, director of sanctity of human life for the children's homes, reported. The two women intended to get abortions but instead, by divine appointment, each was able to see her baby on an ultrasound machine screen provided by gifts to the Psalm 139 Project of Southern Baptists' Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission. Department of Justice Takes Elderly Pro-Life Activist to Court for Intimidation - Daily Caller -The Department of Justice is bringing an elderly pro-life activist to court for allegedly intimidating women attempting to get abortions at a Planned Parenthood facility in Washington, D.C.  DOJ’s Civil Rights Division is seeking monetary damages, penalties and an order to prevent pro-lifer Richard Retta from coming within 20 feet of Planned Parenthood of Metropolitan Washington’s gate or obstructing patient or staff access to the clinic.  The suit, filed this month in D.C. District Court, claims that Retta violated the Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act, a law passed during the Clinton administration, which prohibits the use of intimidation to prevent women from obtaining an abortion.  Read more........
