Steve Peters Commentary - #2948 -Obamacare's Disastrous New Long-Term Care Entitlements - Reason.com (2) Felons Voting Illegally May Have Put Franken Over the Top in Minnesota Study Find - Fox (3) Is Obama Above the Law? - Washington Post (4) Lech Walesa Stood Up, As All Men of Courage and Conviction Should

When ObamaCare passed, the Obama administration’s top officials repeatedly assured the public that it was not just fiscally sound but fiscally responsible: a path toward long-term deficit reduction and better health care budgeting. What the White House and its allies neglected to mention was that they’d tacked an unworkable, unsustainable $70 billion long-term care entitlement onto the bill in order to dress up its official budget projections. It’s called the CLASS (Community Living Assistance Service and Supports) Act, and it helped ObamaCare score big on decade-long deficit reduction estimates. Its designers even promised that it would be self-sustaining for at least 75 years. It’s not. Starting around 2030, the program will spend far more than it takes in, leading to tens of billions in new deficit spending with each successive decade. Whose idea of fiscal responsibility was this?  Read more........

Felons Voting Illegally May Have Put Al Franken Over the Top in Minnesota- Study Finds - Fox - The six-month election recount that turned former "Saturday Night Live" comedian Al Franken into a U.S. senator may have been decided by convicted felons who voted illegally in Minnesota's Twin Cities.  That's the finding of an 18-month study conducted by Minnesota Majority, a conservative watchdog group, which found that at least 341 convicted felons in largely Democratic Minneapolis-St. Paul voted illegally in the 2008 Senate race between Franken, a Democrat, and his Republican opponent, then-incumbent Sen. Norm Coleman.  The final recount vote in the race, determined six months after Election Day, showed Franken beat Coleman by 312 votes -- fewer votes than the number of felons whose illegal ballots were counted, according to Minnesota Majority's newly released study, which matched publicly available conviction lists with voting records.  Read more........ SP:  The more you read about the long term impact of ObamaCare on our health, pocketbooks, and freedoms, the more you wish we could have killed it in the Senate. But for the one Senate vote of Al Franken from Minnesota, who "stole" the recount election by just 312 votes, there would be no ObamaCare. More felons(341) voted illegally in the race, than Franken's "winning margin" on the recount. In every way, ObamaCare has been a fraud perpetuated on the American people against their will. Unless it is repealed, it will ration away our health care. evaporates our freedoms, and take any remaining vibrancy out of our free market economy.

Is Obama Above the Law? - Washington Post -  The U.S. intervention in Libya’s civil war, intervention that began with a surplus of confusion about capabilities and a shortage of candor about objectives, is now taking a toll on the rule of law. In a bipartisan cascade of hypocrisies, a liberal president, with the collaborative silence of most congressional conservatives, is traducing the War Powers Resolution.  Enacted in 1973 over President Nixon’s veto, the WPR may or may not be wise. It is, however, unquestionably a law, and Barack Obama certainly is violating it. It stipulates that a president must terminate military action 60 days after initiating it (or 90, if the president “certifies” in writing an “unavoidable military necessity” respecting the safety of U.S. forces), unless Congress approves it. Congress has been supine and silent about this war, which began more than 70 days ago.  Read more......... SP: Obama actions indicate that he thinks he is above the law. Will Congress and the Federal Courts continue to let him have free rein to do what he wants without attempting to stop him? The voters did their job in the 2009 and 2010 election cycles, removing significant numbers of liberal Democrats from all levels of public offices throughout the Country. The voters "cleaned the House", significantly reduced the number of Democrat Senators. and turned over a large numbers of governorships/state legislatures to the Republicans. The voters did their job, when will the Republicans and courts step up and do theirs?

Lech Walesa Stood Up, As All Men of Courage and Conviction Should - Investors.com -  Courage: Someone who was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for actually doing something just snubbed someone who won it for nothing. But Lech Walesa's refusal to meet President Obama is also a cry to save Poland.  Lech Walesa, the former Polish president and heroic leader of the Solidarity trade union that helped liberate the entire Eastern European Soviet bloc from communist rule, has his moral courage indelibly engraved in the history books.  At 67, Walesa is a living legend with nothing left to have to prove.  But on Friday, Walesa once again answered the call to duty and announced he would not accept fellow Nobel Peace laureate President Obama's invitation to meet with him in Poland after the G-8 Summit in France.  Read more......... SP:  Why have we not heard about this on the front pages of this nation's newspapers? Lech Walesa a courageous historic figure giving Obama what he deserved most, a huge snub for his suicidal foreign policies. Individuals like Lech Walesa who lived behind the "iron curtain" under the thumb of living and breathing Russian marxist policies are the first to recognize and reject any appeasement to their enemy.
