Attorney General Eric Holder will give the commencement address at the University of Virginia Law School. Yes, the same institution where Johnathan Perkins is set to graduate May 22 despite the fact that he lied to UVA police, the university community, and Albemarle County. See UVA's Honor code here. Johnathan unleashed his blatant anti-cop agenda in a Letter to the Editor in the school's Virginia Law Weekly on April 22, only to recant it weeks later. Perkins and Holder on the same stage should be enough to rouse the specter of Jefferson himself. The 25-year-old student's Million Little Pieces ruse reflects the social justice crowd's rationale that lies aren't lies when they serve a higher purpose. His falsification of injustice on campus to rouse public awareness of police brutality was in fact unjust to the students, faculty, administration, and anyone else touched by this story. How could it happen that a law student would lie about police brutality and racial profiling when his own well-connected grandfather had already tackled the issue in extensive writings on the matter?   Read more.......

Nearly 20% of New Obamacare Waivers are Gourmet Restaurants, Nightclubs, Fancy Hotels in Nancy Pelosi's District - Daily Caller - Of the 204 new Obamacare waivers President Barack Obama’s administration approved in April, 38 are for fancy eateries, hip nightclubs and decadent hotels in House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi’s Northern California district.  That’s in addition to the 27 new waivers for health care or drug companies and the 31 new union waivers Obama’s Department of Health and Human Services approved.  Pelosi’s district secured almost 20 percent of the latest issuance of waivers nationwide, and the companies that won them didn’t have much in common with companies throughout the rest of the country that have received Obamacare waivers.  Read more......

Nevada Secures Partial Waiver from Federal Health Care Law - Las Vegas Sun -  Nevada got a partial waiver from the health care law — a significant development that Democrats are dismissing as par for the course and Republicans are claiming as a political victory.  The Health and Human Services Department announced late Friday that Nevada had secured a statewide waiver from certain implementation requirements of the Obama administration’s health care law, because forcing them through, the department found, “may lead to the destabilization of the individual market.”  The announcement makes Nevada one of only three states to have compliance requirements under the health care bill waived.  Nevada’s Insurance Division had appealed to the feds to reduce the federal requirement that health plans serving people who buy insurance on their own must spend at least 80 percent of the money they collect on medical expenses. Under the national rule, companies that don’t spend that percentage of revenue on medical costs have to cut policyholders rebate checks starting this year.  Read more.......

Alex Cortes: Democrats Way Out There with Waivers - Townhall - On Friday evening the Department of Health and Human Services posted on its website 221 newly approved waivers from various provisions of ObamaCare, and for some reason, chose to forego issuing a press release celebrating the occasion. That brings the total to 1,372 businesses and 7 entire states that have now received exemptions from the law, while the rest of America bears its full oppressive weight, as many plaintively plea: Where’s MY Waiver?  The waiver fiasco presents a significant problem for ObamaCare’s supporters in that while many Americans are still largely unaware of many of its most burdensome provisions, as they become aware, more and more turn against it.  Read more.......

Nursing Homes Seeking Reprieve From Health Care Law - Daily Caller - It is an oddity of American health care: Many nursing homes and home care agencies do not provide health insurance to their workers, or they pay wages so low that employees cannot afford the coverage that is offered.  The numbers are stark. Among workers who provide hands-on care to nursing home residents, one in four has no health insurance. Among those who provide care to people living at home, one in three is uninsured.  The new health care law is supposed to fix the problem by guaranteeing access to affordable coverage for all. But many nursing homes and home care agencies, alarmed at the cost of providing health insurance to hundreds of thousands of health care workers, have started a lobbying effort seeking some kind of exemption or special treatment.  Read more......
