Abortion - H.R. 3 - #2880 - No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act: This House Celebrates Life - Family Research Council

For the last few days, Americans from all across the country have been gearing up for the National Day of Prayer. So it seems fitting that yesterday, amidst all the preparations, one of our prayers was answered. While I stood outside the House chamber, Rep. Chris Smith (R-N.J.) had the satisfaction of watching a bill that he's worked on his whole career pass. And not just pass--but overpower the opposition. By the end of yesterday's debate, the support for the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act was so overwhelming that it sailed through on a 76-vote cushion. Sixteen of those were from Democrats. They agreed with Chris Smith that "No taxpayer should be coerced to pay, subsidize, or facilitate the dismemberment, chemical poisoning, starvation or suctioning to death of a child." To the credit of House leaders, every single Republican--even the pro-abortion and wobbly ones--voted yes. Part of that success can be attributed to the campaign of FRC Action's Super PAC. The radio ads from Connie Mackey's shop were so effective that 15 of the 18 members targeted by the PAC voted pro-life. Thanks to her work and the work of our entire government affairs team who helped draft the measure, H.R. 3 is a third of the way to the finish line.  Read more.......
