Steve Peters Commentary - #2808 - Walter Williams: Tax the Rich? Good Luck With That - Investors.com (2) VIDEO: Tax the Rich (3) Children of the Corn - How Ethanol Damages America! - Redstate (4) The Tea Party's Victory - Wall Street Journal

I've often said that I wish there were some humane way to get rid of the rich. If you asked why, I'd answer that getting rid of the rich would save us from distraction by leftist hustlers promoting the politics of envy. Not having the rich to fret over might enable us to better focus our energies on what's in the best interest of the 99.99% of the rest of us. Let's look at some facts about the rich laid out by Bill Whittle citing statistics on his RealClearPolitics video "Eat the Rich." This year, Congress will spend $3.7 trillion dollars. That turns out to be about $10 billion per day. Can we prey upon the rich to cough up the money? According to IRS statistics, roughly 2% of U.S. households have an income of $250,000 and above. By the way, $250,000 per year hardly qualifies one as being rich. It's not even yacht and Learjet money.  Read more......... SP: The American people through the Tea Party,(Harry Reid says they are fading and irrelevant) are demanding that we actually cut spending. The terms of this debate have now been set by Paul Ryan and the GOP on how much we should reduce our deficit spending. The GOP actually reduces spending by $6.2 Trillion, removes $2.5 Trillion of new taxes proposed by Obama, bends the growth of medicare/Medicaid, and is significantly reducing the drag on our economy by repealing ObamaCare. What a surprise; Obama has again run from the back of the parade, grabbed the baton from the grand Marshal, and yelled I am in charge. The good news is that he FINALLY says he wants to cut the deficit, and the bad news is, his rote answer is gut defense, plus you guessed it.......tax, tax, and again tax the "RICH." Please link to the "eat the rich" video below for the facts. So far, all Obama has ever done is BEND THE TRUTH, to the American people. Anyone paying attention, knows that Obama is extremely factually challenged when he talks to the American people, and it is time for the GOP to take this issue on directly. You cannot have an honest debate, when one side continues to fabricate the truth to the American people. It is time for us to have our national Joe Wilson, "You Lie" moment with Obama and the Democrat Party.

Eat the Rich - Bill Whittle - AW: Although I posted this last week, Walter Williams examines the video facts as outlined above. Steve wanted you to have both at the same time.  This video has been viewed 233,800 times.

Children of the Corn - How Ethanol Damages America! - Redstate -  The market for ethanol is propped up by the Renewable Fuel Standard (RFS), a Soviet-style production quota. Conservatives should be appalled by this reversion to Stalin-era central planning. Should taxpayers have to subsidize ethanol too?  So let’s make a deal! I’ll give you a new source of fuel that has 1/3 the energy of your gasoline. In return for that, I’ll dramatically decrease the food supply. As a result of this screaming bargain, you’ll end up spending more cash on gasoline to make up for the lost power from this new fuel additive. And furthermore, once we’ve obliterated metric tons of food production, governments all over the Middle East will become destabilized and disrupt the original supply of fuel we were using before I offered you this bargain. If this sounds about as enticing as the offer Agent Smith made to Cypher Reagan, that only means you are intelligent and have been paying attention.  Read more......... SP: OK, if the GOP leadership real wants to earn some great street creds with conservatives and tea party activists, and "save the world".....kill this absurd subsidy. This produces no positive benefit, except for those who grow the corn, process the fuel, and the politicians that receive the lobbyist's contributions. There are a multitude of ways to reduce our consumption of imported oil that are far more productive, less costly, and far less destructive to our environment. Shame on all of those, both Republican and Democrat, that are a party to all the destructive effects that ethanol has brought both to America and the world. A politician voting for or receiving political contributions from those tied to the ethanal scheme alone, should give any well meaning citizen great pause when casting their vote in future elections.

The Tea Party's Victory - Wall Street Journal -  This is getting to be a habit. President Obama ferociously resists tax cuts, trade agreements and spending cuts—right up to the moment he strikes a deal with Republicans and hails the tax cuts, trade agreements and spending cuts as his idea. What a difference an election makes. This is the larger political meaning of Friday's last minute budget deal for fiscal 2011 that averted a government shutdown. Mr. Obama has now agreed to a pair of tax cut and spending deals that repudiate his core economic philosophy and his agenda of the last two years—and has then hailed both as great achievements. Republicans in Washington have reversed the nation's fiscal debate and are slowly repairing the harm done since the Nancy Pelosi Congress began to set the direction of government in 2007.  Read more........... Obama was famously quoted in 2008 as saying, " Elections have consequences." The 2009 and 2010 elections have been a MAJOR push back on ObamaCare and other marxist policies being implemented by this administration. Adding insult to injury is their authoritarian method of governance and total lack of regard for what the voting public has been telling them since the 2008 election. For the cards they had to play, the GOP with the help of the Tea Party did a very good job of revising the nonexistent DEMOCRAT 2011 budget. It is just a small step on the road to recovery, which requires the defeat of Obama, and retaking of the Senate in the 2012 election.
