Steve Peters Daily Commentary - #2691 - Defense of Marriage Act, Energy, Government Shutdown, Health Care, Eric Holder

Steve Peters - Daily Articles and Commentary - Obama to God and America - You're Wrong About Marriage - Robert Knight - Townhall - It’s a good thing Barack Obama is not in charge of defending the law of gravity, or we’d all be floating up to an airless death.  Allow me to take off the gloves. As one who helped draft the first version of the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), I regard Obama’s order to Attorney General Eric Holder to abandon DOMA’s legal defense as lawless, reckless, arrogant and a violation of his oath of office. I think it is an impeachable offense.  I’m just warming up.  Read more.......

Eric Holder's People - Wall Street Journal -"This Department of Justice does not enforce the law in a race-conscious way," declared Attorney General Eric Holder in a House oversight hearing yesterday. But Politico reports on an exchange during the hearing that suggests otherwise. Rep. John Culberson, a Texas Republican, was questioning Holder about the New Black Panther Party voter-intimidation case, which the department dismissed after Holder took over: The Attorney General seemed to take personal offense at a comment Culberson read in which former Democratic activist Bartle Bull called the incident the most serious act of voter intimidation he had witnessed in his career.  Read more.......

America's Enemies Don't Want U.S. Drilling - What Does That Make Democrats -Investors.com -  Energy: With oil prices shooting through the roof, the nation's failure to ramp up domestic energy production is baffling. But one thing we know for sure: America's enemies are actively agitating against drilling in the U.S.  Two days ago, the Venezuelan Embassy in Washington put out a Twitter post expressing disappointment that the documentary "Gasland" didn't win an Academy Award.  "Sadly, 'Gasland' didn't win an Oscar, because a Vzlan helped make it," Venezuela's Twitterer whined.  Read more........

Government Shutdown No Longer a Trainwreck - Michael Barone - Townhall - Sometimes you get an idea of the way opinion is headed by the phrases you don't hear. Case in point: In all the discussion and debate these past weeks about a possible government shutdown if Congress and President Obama fail to agree on funding bills, I don't recall having heard the phrase "train wreck."  I think that's significant, because back in the 1990s, when then-House Speaker Newt Gingrich's Republicans and President Clinton failed to reach agreement and the government actually did shut down, "train wreck" was a common term.  Read more........  - In the last government shutdown in 1995, FOX NEWS did not exist and Al Gore's internet was just starting to be used by the right as an alternative to the Democrat's media arm....95% of all the remaining public news sources. Rush was up and running, but mostly own his own over the radio waves. The Democrats and all their liberal's buddies supposedly reporting the news, long for the good old days when they controlled it all, SP.

Union Heads Make 6 Figures - Politico - As the standoff between unions and Wisconsin Republicans wages on, an analysis of the nation’s 10 largest labor unions shows some top leaders — who are being derided as “union bosses” — make six-figure salaries funded by members’ dues.  Leaders earned between $173,000 and $618,000 at major unions, the Center for Public Integrity found in examining 2009 tax records, with some groups paying dozens of employees in the six figures. At the three major unions , which together represent more than 5.6 million public workers, presidents’ salaries in 2009 ranged between $400,000 and $500,000.  Read more....... Orwell wrote Animal Farm, a parable about the Russian Revolution, with the pigs taking over the farm. This lessons apply equally to labor unions and their union bosses, SP.
