Steve Peters Commentary - #2770 (1) EPA Scheme in Florida - Unites Tea party, Unions (2) Charles Hurt: Tea Party not Cause of Budget stalemate - Washington Times (3)Thomas Sowell: Voting with their Feet - Real Clear Politics

When labor unions and tea party supporters end up united against a federal plan, you know the Obama administration has a problem. And when they stand together in the politically divided state of Florida, then the White House really has a problem – one that could seriously cripple re-election efforts in a crucial swing state. The groups are part of an unusual coalition that’s fighting the Environmental Protection Agency’s stringent new rules for clean-water nutrient levels, which would require phosphorous and nitrogen levels in all lakes, bays, rivers, streams and canals in Florida to be held to those of the area’s most pristine waterways. The EPA’s rules, unveiled recently, are set to be implemented -- in Florida, only -- next year. But critics --including several top unions several top unions, business groups, municipalities and fiscal conservatives -- call the rules a federal over-reach that could force the cash-starved state to spend billions unnecessarily. The rules amount to a federal government “cram-down,” critics say, that would create impossibly high standards, kill jobs and increase water bills for each Florida household by a whopping $700 a year. Charles Hurt (brother of Robert Hurt) - Tea Party not Cause of Budget Stalemate - Washington Times - To hear Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid tell it, this unprecedented budget crisis should all be blamed on the tea party's supposed iron grip on the Republican Party.  "The infighting between the tea party and the rest of the Republican Party, including the Republican leadership in Congress, is keeping our negotiating partner from the negotiating table," claims Mr. Reid, the master of farce who leads Senate Democrats.  Only a true political Ponzi schemer would twist facts like this with a straight face — all part of his party's strategy to portray tea partyers and those who represent them as somehow "extreme."  Read more......... SP: Charles Hurt unlike Harry Reid, has spent time outside of Washington D.C. talking with leaders and members of the tea party movement. Harry Reid's Senate refused to pass a budget LAST YEAR, for the first time in it's history. If he had just done his job last year, we would not be discussing and debating this issue in 2011. Go ahead Harry, blame it on those of us out here in the real world clinging to our guns and religion.

Thomas Sowell:  Voting With Their Feet - Real Clear Politics - The latest published data from the 2010 census show how people are moving from place to place within the United States. In general, people are voting with their feet against places where the liberal, welfare-state policies favored by the intelligentsia are most deeply entrenched. When you break it down by race and ethnicity, it is all too painfully clear what is happening. Both whites and blacks are leaving California, the poster state for the liberal, welfare-state and nanny-state philosophy. Read more...... SP: For those who suggest that Atlas is not shrugging, the 2010 census shows us that over the last ten years, people of all colors are moving out of the liberal blue states and into friendlier conservative, red states. Wanting to be free to succeed and not to be controlled by a central government, is a universal and color blind desire of all people. This is precisely what our Founding Fathers intended. The individual states would be the, "laboratories of experimentation" so that each citizen was free to move to a state which best suited him. The Founding Fathers left each state the prerogative of adopting a sanctioned state religion, but excluded this and most other options from the federal government. The intention was for the federal government to be small with very limited powers, while the states had much greater latitude under the Constitution. The grand experiment, called The UNITED STATES of America, required a small central government, constrained by a conservative interpretation of the Constitution(discussed in the Federalist Papers). Instead of rethinking the multiple failures of their blue state social policies, liberals would prefer to remove all competition with and debate to their ideas. If the liberals succeed in their efforts to federalizing their failed blue state experiments, there will be no Red States left in America to which to run, because they will all be the same color...BLUE.
