Steve Peters Commentary - #2756 - 'Communism is the Goal' - Townhall (2) The Price of Taxing the Rich - Wall Street Journal

There is perhaps no greater example of ironic doublespeak than inclusion of the phrase "civil liberties" within the inapt designation: "American Civil Liberties Union."  Indeed, few leftist organizations in existence today can compete with the ACLU in terms of demonstrated hostility toward what the Declaration of Independence describes as "certain unalienable rights" with which Americans are "endowed by their Creator."......  ACLU founder Roger Baldwin's candid vision: I am for socialism, disarmament, and, ultimately, for abolishing the state itself... I seek the social ownership of property, the abolition of the propertied class, and the sole control of those who produce wealth. Communism is the goal.  Ironic, isn't it? So much for "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness." By combining straightforward segments from each ACLU rendering we arrive with an accurate portrayal. One that cuts through the doublespeak:  The ACLU is...working daily in courts, legislatures and communities. Communism is the goal.  Read more.........SP: Where will our guiding principles and inalienable rights come from, if there is no God allowed in the "public square?" When discussing moral issues, liberals love to ask the rhetorical question, "who's values?" Who's values, in deed! Whose values should we use to distinguish right and wrong, if the liberal groups like the ACLU successfully make us a secular society? Nature hates a vacuum, and in the absence of a religious higher power to draw on, politicians who control our government will make up their own, ever changing yardstick of moral values and rights. With no God, we would no longer have everlasting inalienable rights, but only those temporarily assigned by the whim of government. The ACLU is trying to limit the terms of the debate to favor the liberals, by removing the first amendment free speech rights for people to discuss God in the "public square". Some church groups more concerned with achieving the liberals' secular goals than spiritual pursuits, push group redemption and "social justice", instead of a historic religious value system based on individual redemption and justice. Without God in the public square, and with the assistance of some church groups, the liberals long term goal of a marxist government based on forced collectivism is achievable.

The Price of Taxing the Rich - The top 1% of earners fill the coffers of states like Ca. and N.Y. during a boom and leave them starved for revenue in a bust - Wall Street Journal -  .....The working class may be taking a beating from spending cuts used to close a cavernous deficit, Mr. Williams said, but the root of California's woes is its reliance on taxing the wealthy. Nearly half of California's income taxes before the recession came from the top 1% of earners: households that took in more than $490,000 a year. High earners, it turns out, have especially volatile incomes—their earnings fell by more than twice as much as the rest of the population's during the recession. When they crashed, they took California's finances down with them.  Mr. Williams, a former economic forecaster for the state, spent more than a decade warning state leaders about California's over-dependence on the rich. "We created a revenue cliff," he said. "We built a large part of our government on the state's most unstable income group."New York, New Jersey, Connecticut and Illinois—states that are the most heavily reliant on the taxes of the wealthy—are now among those with the biggest budget holes. A large population of rich residents was a blessing during the boom, showering states with billions in tax revenue. But it became a curse as their incomes collapsed with financial markets.  Read more.......  SP: Be careful what burden you attempt to place on the best producers in this country, because there is a limit. Atlas is shrugging in most blue states like California, New Jersey, and New York. When you force a very small group of producers to pay the lions share of all income taxes, and they stop providing it, you end up with a huge budget hole.
