Barack Obama- 2641 - VIDEO: Obama Refers to Himself as the 'Gipper" in Farewell to Gibbs - Real Clear Politics (2) Oprah Wants Respect for Obama - Politico

"The most challenging problem was what tie to wear......."And then somebody -- I don't remember who it was -- turned and said, 'You know what? What about Gibbs' tie? What about Gibbs' tie? That might look good.' And, frankly, Robert didn't want to give it up because he thought he looked really good in the tie. But eventually he was willing to take one for the gipper, and so he took off his tie, and I put it on. And that's the tie that I wore at the national convention." Read entire article........

Oprah Wants Respect for Obama - Politico - Oprah called on President Obama's critics on Friday to show "a certain level of respect.” "I feel that everybody has a learning curve, and I feel that the reason why I was willing to step out for him was because I believed in his integrity and I believed in his heart," the influential TV host said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” in Chicago. Of the negative mood of the country, Oprah added, “I think everybody complaining ought to try it for once.” She said the presidency is a position that “holds a sense of authority and governance over us all,” and that “even if you’re not in support of his policies, there needs to be a certain level of respect.”  See video of her remarks.........

Commentary and articles contributed by Steve Peters:  Obama calling himself, "the Gipper, " does not make it so.....and using the words will not create any association/similarity between himself and Ronald Reagan....because there is none. A marxist can call himself a capitalist, but he is still a marxist, and will still spew class warfare as he takes everything one owns. I knew Ronald Reagan, and believe me, Obama is no Ronald Reagan.  Oprah is complaining about the lack of respect Obama is getting from the voter. Where was the queen of soap opera and day time TV when the left was saying and doing far worse things to President Bush; calling him Hitler, a war criminal, and worse? Her statements are the height of hypocrisy, driven I suspect by her personal prejudices. Most of the comments and push back that I have seen were against his Chicago hard core political tactics in forcing marxist policies down our throats. Maybe we could have given a little more respect in the beginning to the most inexperienced/unqualified individual to hold the office of President, if he had shown some humility and acknowledged his shortcomings, instead of telling Senator McCain, 'to get over it... I won.'

Obama and Oprah, need to get over it, and start listening to what a majority of the voters are trying to tell them. Republicans have won overwhelmingly at the polls in every election since he took office. It is his party's policies, governing style, and smug attitude, that have added to the shellackings at the polls against the Democrats. As I learned in the Navy, you salute and respect the uniform an officer is wearing, not necessarily the man wearing it. Individual respect is mutually earned through positive interactions with others, not by insulting them. The song 'RESPECT,' was originally sung by Otis Redding, pleading for respect, that he was not getting. If Obama had listened to what the vast majority of voters in our center right country had been trying to tell him for over two years and taken care of business(TCB), maybe he would have received what supporters like Oprah are pleading for on his behalf......Some Respect!

She implores that we give him time, because there is a steep learning curve to the job of being President (perhaps we should have chosen someone with some experience?) Unfortunately, there is no learning curve with this President because he refuses to listen to those who do not agree with him. Obama is an ideologue and narcissist making him unable to learn anything "from the other side." His only response to those who do not agree with him is to discount them and treat them as the enemy; pushing them out of the way.  Don't take me at my word, just listen to what he has said publicly. Obama told us the following:  "They get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."  "If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun." "we talk to these we know whose ..... to kick." (he was talking about the private sector which produces all the wealth in the country)  "Punish your enemies."(to Latino supporters about Republicans)  "I don't want to quell anger. I think people have a right to be angry! I'm angry! "(ACORN Mobs)  "she was a typical white person...a reaction in her that's been bred"(referring his white grandmother)  "I think when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody" (Joe the plumber)

This President is wearing very thin on a majority of the American people. Unlike Wall Street's Pain Webber's decades old ad; "the more Obama talks and lies, the less we listen." Who will actually have the fortitude to step forward and tell him besides Joe Wilson? One thing is for sure, it will not be Oprah or any of her "friends" or audience. RANDOM THOUGHT: If Obama thought 200,000 protesting Egyptians in Cairo were enough legitimacy to bring down a government, then why were 1,400,000+ Tea Party Americans protesting in Washington D. C. not enough legitimacy to kill the ObamaCARE Bill?
