Lame-Duck Session - #2439 - Food Safety & Modernization Act SB510 - House May Block Food Safety Bill Over Senate Error - Roll Call (2) Illegal Alien DREAM Act Legislative Alert Vote Imminent - Michelle Malkin (3) VIDEO: Hot MIC: Dem. A food safety bill that has burned up precious days of the Senate’s lame-duck session appears headed back to the chamber because Democrats violated a constitutional provision requiring that tax provisions originate in the House. By pre-empting the House’s tax-writing authority, Senate Democrats appear to have touched off a power struggle with members of their own party in the House. The Senate passed the bill Tuesday, sending it to the House, but House Democrats are expected to use a procedure known as “blue slipping” to block the bill, according to House and Senate GOP aides. The debacle could prove to be a major embarrassment for Senate Democrats, who sought Tuesday to make the relatively unknown bill a major political issue by sending out numerous news releases trumpeting its passage. Section 107 of the bill includes a set of fees that are classified as revenue raisers, which are technically taxes under the Constitution. According to a House GOP leadership aide, that section has ruffled the feathers of Ways and Means Committee Democrats, who are expected to use the blue slip process to block completion of the bill.  Read more.........  For all those who have been following this Bill, this is quite a turn of events, please read the rest of this article to see what procedures could be used to block this Bill.

Illegal Alien DREAM Act Legislative Alert Vote Imminent - Michelle Malkin -   The shamnesty wheels are turning. Harry Reid has been hard at work maneuvering to get his illegal alien bailout pay-off vote scheduled. The open-borders lobby is energized and mobilized. Are you?  I’ve been warning about how the DREAM Act agitators have been pressing squishy Republicans aggressively. I’ve posted phone numbers of the fence-sitters for you. We’re down to the wire.  Micheal Hill reports on all the overnight developments. As usual, THERE IS NO FINAL TEXT available of the actual legislation that will be voted on. It’s classic Dem obfuscation strategy and Obamacare redux. I’ve had DREAM Act agitators screaming that I’m “lying” about what’s in the bill — when they know there has been a deliberate effort to avoid settling on which of the three or four versions will be up for the vote.  Senator Reid took the first steps toward bringing the DREAM Act before the Senate on Tuesday evening, November 30, in a move that sets up a key procedural vote on the measure that could occur as soon as Friday, December 3, or early next week. But even while Senator Reid was maneuvering to bring the DREAM Act up for a vote in the Senate, the House Democratic Leadership was signaling its retreat from a parliamentary manuever that it had floated as a way of bringing the measure up for a vote in the U.S. House of Representatives.  The Senate. With mutliple versions of the DREAM Act to choose from, the Majority Leader chose to advance a new bill, S. 3992, a measure that was only introduced on Tuesday, November 30. The text of the new measure was not widely available at the time of this writing.  Read more..........  This is the next Bill to call your Senators about, Senate Main Switchboard 202-224-3121, In Virginia: Jim Webb 202-224-4024, Mark Warner 202-224-2023.

Hot MIC: Dem Senator Bennett Caught Saying Lame-Duck Agenda is 'All Rigged' - The Blaze - A microphone accidentally left on during Tuesday’s Senate session caught one Democratic senator complaining that the agenda is “all rigged.”  After voting on the Food Safety Act, a microphone picked up Sen. Michael Bennet (D-CO) complaining that the process of setting the agenda during the lame-duck session is “rigged.”  “It’s all rigged. The whole conversation is rigged,” he said. “The fact that we don’t get to a discussion before the break about what we’re going to do in the lame duck. It’s just rigged.”  In comments made to the Daily Caller, Bennet Chief of Staff Guy Cecil stood by the remarks.  “It’s something he’s been talking about from day one,” Cecil told the DC. “The whole process being rigged against having a real conversation about tax cuts, the estate tax and the defense authorization. We’re not having a lot of those conversations. It’s just a symptom of Washington being broken.”  Read more......  This has received 43,356 views.

GOP Rep. Explains floor rant: 'This is Why the People Have Thrown You Out - The Blaze - Maybe Rep. Steve Buyer (R-IN) feels even freer to speak his mind since he decided not to seek a tenth term in the House of Representatives. Here’s the LA Times: Monday, the presiding speaker was California’s Democratic Rep. Laura Richardson.  When Indiana Republican Rep. Steve Buyer sought recognition to speak for….  …five minutes about some pending veterans legislation, she said no. He revised his request to one minute.  Looking confused and taking verbal directions from someone off-camera, Richardson again denied the request.  Buyer persisted, growing outraged that one sitting representative was highhandedly refusing to recognize another, even for one minute. “This is why,” Buyer declared, “the American people have thrown you out of power.”  Read more.......  This has received 13,136 views.
