Christmas Season - #2440 - Update: GOP Leaders Tell Smithsonian to Pull 'Homoerotic' Exhibit - The Blaze

House Minority Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio, is still weeks away from taking over the Speaker’s gavel, but is already throwing around the weight of a new Republican majority in the House of Representatives. On Tuesday, the Speaker-to-be warned the Smithsonian Institution that if it did not pull its controversial exhibit — “Hide/Seek: Difference and Desire in American Portraiture” — which featured images of an ant-covered crucifix and “homoerotic” art, its federal funding will come under serious scrutiny when Congress considers the next budget.  Read more.......  At $750,000, this is the MOST EXPENSIVE exhibit EVER staged at YOUR National Portrait Gallery. If you have ever been there, you know it's a huge building. There is plenty of room for a real "advance guard" exhibit on Muhammad, because that would actually be something new, cutting edge, and different. So, where is it? All these artist think they are brave, cutting edge, and avant garde (thats what they consistently tell each other at their cocktail parties), because they live in their "Liberal Bubble", exclusively filled with other like minded liberal artists and critics. Political Correctness keeps out all other conflicting points of view in their protected world. It really is old, childish, and tiring that they repeatedly pick on Christian images, icons, and beliefs (Catholics are their favorite targets). The Smithsonian says it is OK, because federal funds were not used to pay for the exhibit itself. That's a little like saying, "If I provide the room in my home and stand guard while my classmate assaults another person I am not responsible, because I only provided security and the facility. Yeah, try telling that to the local prosecutor.  These are our public buildings open to all to view with some of the world's most respected art existing in the world today. We deserve to have art exhibited in them that represents a standard and quality appreciated by the American Taxpayer. Let these preschool pretend avant garde "artists" find private venues, if there are any to exhibit their trash. Perhaps one standard for these exhibits should be: Would they be allowed on our public school grounds without having to blindfold all the students?  Article and commentary by Steve Peters.

Philly Returns 'Christmas' to 'Holiday Village' Signs - The Blaze -
Consider it a Christmas re-birth.  Philadelphia’s mayor has acquiesced and returned “Christmas” to a “holiday” sign marking the city’s famous Christmas village market. The sign, which originally said “Christmas Village,” was altered to say “Holiday Village” earlier this week in order to be politically correct. But not everyone‘s buying the mayor’s explanation.  Wednesday, Mayor Michael Nutter announced the sign would be changed back. Philly Clout reports:  Mayor Nutter, after sustaining two days of controversy, wants “Christmas” back up on the signs at the entrance to the German Christmas Village at City Hall. Nutter told PhillyClout he spoke with the village organizer and the sign should be back up by tomorrow.  Nutter said the decision came after “personal reflection” on the matter.  “We are an international, multi-ethnic, multi-faith city,” Nutter said. “I took some time to step back from all of this to think about it in a larger context.”  Read more.......

GOP Senator Boycott's Hometown 'Holiday' Parade - The Blaze -  When Sen. Jim Inhofe’s (R-OK) hometown parade of lights took the word “Christmas” out of the title, Inhofe had had enough. Now he’s taking something else out of the parade: himself.  Inhofe annually appears in Tulsa, Oklahoma’s parade of lights by riding atop his horse, but said he will not do so again until the name is changed back to the “Christmas Parade of Lights.”“Last year, the forces of political correctness removed the word ‘Christmas’ and replaced it with ‘Holiday’ instead,” Inhofe told Tulsa World. “I am deeply saddened and disappointed by this change.”  Mirroring a decision he made last year, the senator said “I‘m not going to ride in a Christmas parade that doesn’t recognize Christmas.” He added, “I am hopeful that the good people of Tulsa and the city’s leadership will demand a correction to this shameful attempt to take Christ, the true reason for our celebration, out of the parade’s title. Until the parade is again named the Christmas Parade of Lights, I will not participate.”  Read more.......
