Virginia 5th District Race - #2370- Hurt Begins Transition Work, Plans to Keep His Family in Chatham - WSLS10

The day after winning the 5th District seat in Congress, Robert Hurt has already begun the transition process. Hurt reclaimed the district for the Republican Party on Tuesday night, ousting freshman Democrat Rep. Tom Perriello with nearly 51 percent of the vote. He will hold a news conference today in Chatham to announce his transition team, but spoke with the Danville Register & Bee on Wednesday afternoon to discuss his plans come January. Hurt joked that “after a year of the fun” it was hard to believe the race was over.“It’s nice to be done with it,” he said, but added that “I’m proud of the race that we ran … Now that we have been given this important responsibility, we have to step up to the plate.” Read more......
