Robert Hurt Receives Endorsement from The Daily Progress: Hurt Believes in Principles - We rest upon principles. Principles that the Founders cherished. Principles such as limited government, individual liberty, free markets, fiscal discipline and control over our own lives.  And with those principles as the basis for decision, the only possible choice for next congressman from the 5th District is Republican Robert Hurt.  This is said with respect for candidate Jeffrey Clark for taking a risk to stand on principle as an independent.  It is also said with respect for incumbent Tom Perriello. Mr. Perriello has worked for the district with more transparency than virtually any of his colleagues. He has been willing to meet with constituents — including critics —almost anytime, anywhere. He is one of the hardest-working members of the House.  But he has been working hard to help lead the nation in the wrong direction.
The health care law has stifled economic growth because it has thrown businesses into uncertainty about the costs they will now bear; uncertain companies are unwilling to risk money on new projects or increased hiring. Repealing the law and replacing it with real reform is the first step. Increasing competition (by allowing insurance companies to compete across state lines) and reforming tort law (to prevent excessive lawsuits against health care providers) are just two plans endorsed by Mr. Hurt and his party.  Read more..........

McDonnell, others from GOP rally for Hurt - The Daily Progress - Several GOP heavyweights stood on the bed of a red pickup Sunday and implored area residents to support Republican Robert Hurt in his bid for Congress, saying the challenger was the best person to get the country back on track.  “What doesn’t work is a social welfare state that we are heading for, particularly under [U.S. Rep.] Tom Perriello’s vision,” said U.S. Rep. Eric I. Cantor, R-Henrico, the No. 2 Republican in the U.S. House of Representatives. “We know what works is less government means more freedom. Not higher taxes and more spending of money we don’t have. We know what works is Robert Hurt, not Tom Perriello.”  The Sunday stop at the Albemarle County Republican Committee’s headquarters was a part of Hurt’s Virginia Victory 2010 Tour. Cantor was one of many Republicans to campaign on behalf of Hurt, who is locked in a tough race with Perriello, a freshman Democrat from Ivy.  Read more.........
