Lame-Duck Session - #2436 - FOOD SAFETY AND MODERNIZATION BILL PASSES 73-25 - Welborn Freedom Watch

Unfortunately the Food Safety and Modernization Act, SB 510 Passed. These Republicans were part of the 25 votes who stood firm for our freedoms and liberties:

Barrasso (R-WY)
Bennett (R-UT)
Bunning (R-KY)
Chambliss (R-GA)
Coburn (R-OK)
Cochran (R-MS)
Corker (R-TN)
Cornyn (R-TX)
Crapo (R-ID)
DeMint (R-SC)
Ensign (R-NV)
Graham (R-SC)
Hatch (R-UT)
Hutchison (R-TX)
Inhofe (R-OK)
Isakson (R-GA)
Kyl (R-AZ)
McCain (R-AZ)

McConnell (R-KY)
Risch (R-ID)
Roberts (R-KS)
Sessions (R-AL)
Shelby (R-AL)
Thune (R-SD)
Wicker (R-MS)
These Republicans voted with the Democrats in support of this Bill: Alexander R-TN, Brown R-MA, Burr R-NC, Collins R-ME, Enzi R-WY, Grassley R-IA, Gregg R-NH, Johanns R-NE, Kirk R-IL, LeMieux R-FL, Lugar R-IN, Murkowski R-AK, Snowe R-ME, Vitter R-LA, Voinovich R-OH.

Unfortunately, but not surprising, Mark Warner and Jim Webb voted for the Bill. This Bill did include the Tester-Hogan Amendment, but as Tom Coburn stated before and after the vote, this Bill did not fix the real problems with Food Safety, the cost of food will rise dramatically - 300-400 Million per year, the Bill will cost 1.4 Billion, will not fix the problem of agencies not doing what they are supposed to be doing. His substitution motion was defeated.

I watched a lot of the proceedings leading up to the vote, and it made me so thankful for all the hard work by so many conservatives devoted to changing the leadership of the House and the numbers in the Senate. I encourage everyone to watch during this Lame-Duck session on C-Span and I assure you it will reinforce just why it was important to change the Congress, and why we must continue to work hard and watch everything.  There are still many Bills that can be passed during this session that will dramatically change our lives. I am linking again the American Thinker article that was so thorough as to why this Bill was dangerous. Oh Yes, Monsanto wins in this Bill and guess who owned a lot of Monsanto - GEORGE SOROS.
