Health Care Bill HR3590 - #2398- The Ever Expanding Obamacare Escapee List - Michelle Malkin (2) VIDEO: Lots of Unions are on the 'Hidden List to Receive Health Care Waivers - The Blaze (3) Krugman: Death Panels, VAT Will Fix Debt Crisis (4) Krugman Smears 'Death Panel' Critics-Newsmax (5) VIDEO: Krugman Recommends 'Death Panels' to Help Balance Budget- Newsbusters

Let us briefly review the rapidly growing rolls of companies, unions, and states bursting out of the Obamacare escape hatch. In early September, I noted the push by Obamacare promoter and Democrat Rep. Ron Wyden for a special state waiver from the very federal mandate he advocated for everyone else. A few weeks later, McDonald’s finagled its own Obamacare waiver after warning federal regulators that it could be forced to drop its affordable health insurance plan for nearly 30,000 restaurant workers unless it got a pass. In early October, the Obama administration announced it had granted waivers not only to McDonald’s, but also to several other firms and labor unions. Now comes word that Torquemada HHS Secretay Kathleen Sebelius has approved a whopping 111 waivers for businesses of all sizes, along with more unions and other providers of health insurance. The escapees include employers of many low-wage and part-time workers whose health insurance plans would otherwise be dropped, including Darden Restaurants — the parent company of the Olive Garden and Red Lobster and other chains, which employ some 34,000 people.......... About 200,000 people were included in the new round of exemptions, bringing the total to almost 1.2 million people, HHS said on its website. Also on the list for exemptions are Manor Care Inc., a nursing-home company owned by Washington-based private equity firm Carlyle Group, and Universal Forest Products Inc., a lumber company based in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Spokesmen for Manor and Universal Forest didn’t immediately respond to messages seeking comment.    Read more....... The list of most recently approved refugees is here. Make no mistake: Team Obama isn’t granting the waivers out of bleeding-heart compassion for the affected workers, but out of a panicked urgency to avoid a public relations disaster.

(2) Lots of Unions are on the 'Hidden List to Receive Health Care Waivers - The Blaze -  This clip has been viewed 222,906 times. If ObamaCare is such a good idea, then why are there 111 companies on the waiver list? GatewayPundit highights the segment’s central charge:  “The bottom line here is that they gave out waivers is an admission of guilt. Basically they’re saying, “You’re right. We screwed up.” That’s the bottom line here. They did not create a law that benefits all of us.”  Further, GatewayPundit’s analysis of the 111 names (full list here) turns up some familiar names — like SEIU and other unions:
#12– UFCW Allied Trade Health & Welfare Trust
#14– IBEW No.915
#19– Asbestos Workers Local 53 Welfare Fund

(3) Krugman: Death Panels, VAT Will Fix Debt Crisis - Newsmax - Economist and New York Times columnist Paul Krugman says the only way the U.S. will get its debt crisis under control is by the use of "death panels" and a national sales tax.  The national sales tax, referred to as value-added tax (VAT), which governments across Europe use widely, will help cut the U.S deficit, Krugman argues.  Krugman made his comments on ABC's “This Week with Christiane Amanpour” during a roundtable discussion about the economy and the recent findings of the U.S. Debt Reduction Commission.  Read more..........  Article contributed by Steve Peters.

(4) Krugman Smears 'Death Panel' Critics - Newsmax -After an explosive interview Sunday morning in which he referred to using “death panels” to rein in runaway deficits, economist and New York Times columnist Paul Krugman claimed he had said the same thing before.  In a blog post written after his contentious participation in a panel discussion on “This Week with Christiane Amanpour,” Krugman said that he had used such language before and linked to a single column that mentioned death panels in passing.  But Krugman failed to mention that he has devoted at least a half dozen columns to mock conservatives and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin over the use of the term “death panels.” Palin used the term in reference to language in the Obama healthcare plan that urged seniors to plan their deaths. That, coupled with Medicare cutbacks in the plan, resulted in the "death panel" coinage.  Read more........  Article contributed by Steve Peters

Krugman Recommends 'Death Panels to Help Balance Budget - Newsbusters - Transcript of show - RUTH MARCUS, WASHINGTON POST: Right now, 75 percent of people believe you could balance the budget without touching Medicare or Social Security; 75 percent of people believe that you can balance the budget without raising taxes. Well, you could, but it would be extraordinarily painful.........
PAUL KRUGMAN, NEW YORK TIMES: If they were going to do reality therapy, they should have said, OK, look, Medicare is going to have to decide what it's going to pay for. And at least for starters, it's going to have to decide which medical procedures are not effective at all and should not be paid for at all. In other words, it should have endorsed the panel that was part of the health care reform.  If it's not even -- if the commission isn't even brave enough to take on the death panels people, then it's doing no good at all. It's not educating the public. It's not telling people about the kinds of choices that need to be made.  Read more.......
