Virginia Fifth District Race - #2105 - Virginia Democrat Tom Perriello Trying to Fight His Way Out of Trouble - Politics Daily

It's still a little more than eight weeks to Election Day, a long time in modern politics, and the outcome is far from certain -- but polls out this week have Democrats plenty worried. Among the most concerned is first-term Virginia congressman Tom Perriello, who already knew he was running uphill. Two years of recession have made it a tough environment for any Democrat in a swing state. But Virginia's 5th Congressional District went Democratic in the 2008 Obama tide by a mere 727 votes -- and so in January 2009, as Tom Perriello took the oath of office, Republicans were already plotting how to recapture a district they had held for six terms. A new survey released Thursday shows that if the election were held today, Perriello would lose -- and not by a few hundred votes. The poll, sponsored by a Roanoke television station, finds Perriello trails Republican Robert Hurt 61 to 35 percent, a whopping margin that has grown in the six weeks since the previous survey.  Read more.......  Commentary by Steve Peters:  The chickens are coming home to roost. Tom is running as hard has he can to put daylight between himself, his voting record, and the Obama Administration. This was the whole ruse of the Geithner statement, a deflection from Tom's real problem. TOM has a 100% voting record in DC for EVERY MAJOR PIECE OF OBAMA LEGISLATION SUBMITTED THROUGH THE HOUSE!   Why did he not have one Obama  policy issue that he would say he was against...that was the question he was asked, and did not answer.  He complains that the economic team is out of touch". He should be angry at himself for voting for the economic policies which were put before him in legislation that HE VOTED YES on in OUR HOUSE. By the way Tom, the out of touch economic team is taking their direct orders from the supreme class warfare ideologue....Obama. Changing the entire team would NOT change the lousy policies this administration is forcing down our throats, but voting you out of office along with NANCY PELOSI and HARRY REID would be a good start down the road to economic recovery.  Tom you are NO PEROT DEMOCRAT, he wanted to CUT spending, not spend money like a bunch of drunken sailers. Guess we will just have to Tie Your Hands this coming November 2nd, by voting you out of office.

Dems Plan Political Triage to Retain House - N.Y. Times - As Democrats brace for a November wave that threatens their control of the House, party leaders are preparing a brutal triage of their own members in hopes of saving enough seats to keep a slim grip on the majority. In the next two weeks, Democratic leaders will review new polls and other data that show whether vulnerable incumbents have a path to victory. If not, the party is poised to redirect money to concentrate on trying to protect up to two dozen lawmakers who appear to be in the strongest position to fend off their challengers.  “We are going to have to win these races one by one,” said Representative Chris Van Hollen of Maryland, chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, conceding that the party would ultimately cut loose members who had not gained ground.  With the midterm campaign entering its final two months, Democrats acknowledged that several races could quickly move out of their reach, including re-election bids by Representatives Betsy Markey of Colorado, Tom Perriello of Virginia, Mary Jo Kilroy of Ohio and Frank Kratovil Jr. of Maryland, whose districts were among the 55 Democrats won from Republicans in the last two election cycles.  Read more....... Commentary by Steve Peters: Tom Perreillo's name is appearing on a new radar screen, and it appears to be from the Democratic Leadership, not the Republicans. Today, Obama hit a new LOW on the Rasmussen Poll...MINUS 23. About twice as many people STRONGLY disapproval(47%) verses STRONGLY approval (23%) of the head of the Democratic Party. WIth the Gallop Poll setting a new record high favoring Republicans over Democrats in the House, were is Tom going to hide? The one thing they have more of then Republicans are lies and campaign contributions (money). Up until now Tom has had both of these in abundance, but will they pull the plug on him in the next few weeks?  Tom, a few months ago you said you would love to have Obama in the 5th District campaigning on your behalf, so would we. Have you made the call to invite him down here from DC? If not give please him a call tomorrow, I am sure he would gladly come because you voted for all three of his signature legislative bills; Cap and Tax, Healthcare Takeover, and the $800,000,000,000 stimulus bill.
By the way, where is that 8% unemployment rate we were promised, if the stimulus passed? You forced all three bills down our throats even though you knew the majority of the 5th District voters rejected all three of them. Maybe we should give you a little break, because we know you did not read them before voting on them...there was not time. When the voter come out on November 2nd, each one will take their time to determine if you have properly represented them, or the liberal agenda of your financial contributors from outside the District.,,One of the headlines from a major daily says, "Democrats mobilize to thwart the GOP 'tsunami". This headline is typical old news media. The wave is not coming from the GOP, but from the DISGUSTED FURIOUS VOTERS, who are frustrated with an administration that refused to listen, and PERSISTED in their attempt to pull a right centered country to the far left.
