Vantage Point Devotional - #1766 - "An All Nighter"

Daily Devotional - May 24th, 2010 - "An All-Nighter"
Have you ever had a decision to make, and after weeks of contemplation, you still had no idea what to do as the deadline approached? You may have made lists of all the pros and cons. Or perhaps you did research or asked advice. You may have whispered (or screamed) a prayer or two.
“One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God.” - Luke 6:12 - When it was time for Jesus to choose his disciples, did He make a list of pros and cons? Matthew is faithful, but unpopular. Peter is passionate, but impulsive. James and John are devoted, but they have a mom who is politically ambitions and a dad with a quick temper.
The Bible says in today’s Scripture that before He chose the disciples, Christ spent the night praying to the Father. Sometimes you need answers beyond your knowledge and abilities. That’s when you need to spend time with the Lord, not only speaking, but taking the time to listen; so you can choose with confidence.  Pray determinedly, all night if you have to, for the country’s leaders in the many decisions they make … that they will hear God’s choices clearly and obey wholeheartedly.  Recommended Reading: James 5:13-20
