Yeah, Blumenthal says he takes "full responsibility"...but for what? He says, “But I will not allow anyone to take a few misplaced words and impugn my record of service to this country.” No one is questioning his ACTUAL service to his country, only to that portion of service that DID NOT HAPPEN. You know, the portion about which he was FACTUALLY CHALLENGED. So....when you stub your toe that is a mistake, not when you continually, over the years "build up" and embellish your military history to the point it puts you on the wrong continent in an actual shooting war. Below are a few quotes about lying that Mr. Blumenthal should ponder on.

Vittorio Alfieri: " Liars are always ready to take oaths."
Otto von Bismarck: "People never lie so much as after a hunt, during a war or before an election."
Friedrich Nietzsche: “I'm not upset that you lied to me, I'm upset that from now on I can't believe you”
Abraham Lincoln: "If you once forfeit the confidence of your fellow citizens, you can never regain their respect and esteem. It is true that you may fool all of the people some of the time; you can even fool some of the people all of the time; but you can't fool all of the people all of the time."
Hannah Arendt: "Lies are often much more plausible, more appealing to reason, than reality, since the liar has the great advantage of knowing beforehand what the audience wishes or expects to hear."

1. Blumenthal: Um, when I said I served “in” Vietnam, I meant to say “during”; Update: The lies got worse over time, says Shays - Hot Air
