Fifth District Race- #1753 - Hurt Laps GOP Field in Poll for His Campaign - Roll Call

State Sen. Robert Hurt, the preferred candidate of national Republican leaders to take on freshman Rep. Tom Perriello (D) this fall, released a new poll Tuesday that showed he has a wide lead in the crowded June 8 primary. The poll, which was conducted by Republican polling firm Public Opinion Strategies for Hurt’s campaign, showed Hurt taking 35 percent in a seven-way race. His next-closest competitor, Albemarle County Supervisor Ken Boyd, took 10 percent. Businessmen Jim McKelvey and Laurence Verga, who are self-financing their campaigns, registered at 5 percent and 4 percent, respectively, in the poll.  Read more.......
